Our Story

What started as a friend’s dream became Baker and owner, Doug Matthews business idea. In 2012 Bred Bakery started making made from scratch artisan breads and pastries, using old-world methods. Clean ingredients and no chemical preservatives.

Our Sourdough Bread is what we’re known for; a tradition style of baking created from our “grandmother culture”. This process creates a real sour dough, allowing the bread to ferment fully after shaping.

These principles of bread making have been linchpins of traditional bread making for hundreds or thousands of years, and predate modern advances in technology and equipment adopted in the name of convenience and increased efficiency of production. We’re not bread dinosaurs but can appreciate the experience of eating “real” bread.
